Ms. Rachel is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree. Her primary instrument is the piano. Ms. Rachel’s early experience with children began in high school when she became a certified child care provider in the neighborhood. Since graduating from Miami University, Ms. Rachel has taught K-8 general/choral music in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the staff accompanist for North Royalton, Ohio’s middle and high school choirs for three years. During those three years Ms. Rachel was also a private piano instructor, church pianist, and spring musical choral director. Family was Ms. Rachel’s primary reason for relocating to the panhandle in 2019, during which time she became an elementary general music teacher in the area. In 2020 she relocated to Okaloosa county to be the chorus and piano teacher at Bruner Middle School. Her most memorable performance to date was in Carnegie Hall, 2012, when she sang with Miami University’s Choraliers under the direction of Dr. William Bausano. Outside of music, Miss Nelson has a passion for helping homeless cats in Okaloosa county.
