Prepare to audition for the most prestigious and selective Youth Ensemble in the state of Florida! Musicians will be coached by two of the top woodwind instructors in the area. Workshops are available for flute, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, and oboe.
Meet our Instructors
Jenese Harvey is a 1998 graduate of the Choctaw Style Marcher program who went on to earn her music performance degree at the University of Central Florida. She has served Okaloosa and the surrounding counties for the past 11 years through private lessons on clarinet, flute, and saxophone. We are excited to invite Ms. Jenese to conduct a masterclass to fine-tune the all-state and all-county audition requirements.
Melanie James is a 1997 graduate of the Choctaw Style Marcher program and later went on to graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi. We are excited to invite Ms. James to conduct a masterclass to fine-tune the all-state and all-county audition requirements.
Things To Know
Musicians must be enrolled/registered at a public school, private school, public charter school, home education music cooperative, or virtual school. In addition, the student must be a regularly participating member in the appropriate middle school or high school band from that school and sponsored by the Active FMEA/FBA member teacher from that school.
Home education students must meet the requirements and complete the additional paperwork on the FMEA All-State Eligibility Page. https://fmea.org/programs/all-state/home-education-student-participation-in-fmea-all-state-auditions/
Musicians must have all of the “notes under their fingers”. (Learning how to play notes on the instrument will not be covered during the masterclass)
Each master class will end with a mock audition with a surprise judge!
